Tarte Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation | Review

I’m a little obsessed with trying new foundations at the moment, so when this new foundation from Tarte popped up on the QVC app, I thought I would give it a try.

The Babassu Foundcealer form Tarte is a vegan, skincare foundation and concealer hybrid that is formulated to deliver an ultra-comfortable, natural radiant finish and medium customisable coverage. This make-up and skincare hybrid delivers an ultra-comfortable, natural radiant finish and customisable coverage so you can enhance your complexion to perfection.

Let’s be honest, that sounds quite nice. I’ve only ever had success with the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation, their other foundations just haven’t worked for my skin and that includes their Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation. Choosing a shade was a little tricky, as their wasn’t a handy video or shade chart available. I decided to go with ‘Fair Neutral’ and bronze-up if it ended up being on the paler side. Turns out this was the perfect shade for me and I was delighted with how well it blended, the coverage and the natural glow finish. That lasted about an hour or two until I checked my face in the mirror. Yes I still had coverage and it looked great from a distance, but it was starting to move around my nose area and it was very patchy around my chin. Six hours in and I was a shiny mess. I really do like a flawless finish and this ended up being anything but. Not wanting to give up on the foundation, I tried it for the next 4 days. I tried applying with a beauty blender and a brush, and whilst I much prefer the application and finish with the blending sponge, application made no difference and it still moved around my face. Even the Urban Decay setting spray couldn’t keep this  foundation in place.

Final Thoughts....

I really wanted to love this foundation. The shade was perfect, it gave the described ‘radiant finish’ and for the first two hours of wear, it looked great. I checked out some reviews and it seems to work well for people with dry skin, so maybe that’s why it didn’t work so well for me. If you have dry skin, I would still recommend giving this foundation a try. Plus, if you purchase it on QVC you have the option to try for 30 days and if you don’t like it, you can return it. You can purchase the foundation on it’s own for £30 or for an extra £2.96 it comes with a nice purple sponge.
