Today’s post is all about pampering and where you can go in Leeds for the ultimate pamper experience. A luxury salon called RMUK has just opened on Great George Street Leeds and I was invited to their media launch event to get to know more about what makes RMUK different to any other salon.
Before visiting I didn’t really expect RMUK to be that different to the many salons you can now find in Leeds, but I had a feeling that this place was something special as soon I walked in to their reception. On arrival I was offered a lovely hot towel to refresh myself and a small cup of herbal tea. I’m not usually one for herbal tea’s but this tasted lovely. I met up with Carrieanne from Beauties Unlocked and Mary from Strikeapose and we were then taken on a tour of the salon.
The salon itself is split across a number of floors and it’s only when you reach the top that you realise how big it is and the range of services on offer, including a top floor hair salon, nail bar, pedicure spa, Aveda day spa and private treatment rooms. You even have a treatment room for two, perfect for his and hers spa days. The salon is beautifully decorated with real attention to detail that just screams luxury. There is also a bar and outside terrace where you can go and relax before, during and after your treatments. This is what makes RMUK different to any other salon I have ever visited and they really have thought of your every need. I even spotted a nutri bullet behind the bar for those of us who are partial to a smoothie.
One thing that really impressed me was the private room they have available. This is perfect for pamper parties, for people unable to show their hair for religious reasons or if you have children and don’t want to worry about them wandering off or if you just ant more privacy.
This next service available to all customers really takes RMUK to the next level. They offer a complimentry black cab service that will pick you up before your appointment and drop you off after you have finished your treatments. It is limited to a 3 mile radius, but given how Great George street is a little out of the way, it would be great to get dropped at the station, shops or at a bar for drinks.
Not long after discovering the bar and terrace, I was invited down to the luxury nail bar for a file and polish. Torn between bold colours and pretty neutrals, we decided on a lovely pale pink colour (sweetheart from OPI) and a bright orange as an accent colour.
What do you think? I have to say I love this colour combination and the manicure lasted ages.
I then got whisked up to the hair salon for a consultation with Rachel and we spent a while talking about what I love and hate about my hair. I have been feeling a little bored with my hair colour recently and this was a great chance to chat with a professional and chat about my options. We both agreed that I should stay blonde and Rachel pointed out that highlights could give me a lighter more natural looking colour. We found inspiration on the front cover of Tatlers September issue and I felt so comfortable with Rachel that I booked an appointment for highlights before leaving. Rachel also shared quick and easy tips for how I can add volume to my hair using blow drying and a few rollers. I did have a mini hair makeover and Rachel added some much needed volume and a few curls.
It was a great evening and I can’t wait to go back for my hair appointment.
