When Allertons tweeted me about their blogger day and asked if I would like to attend, I was over the moon and promptly booked the day off work. I had missed out on their last event and I couldn’t wait to discover Allertons and indulge in some much needed pampering.
So what do Allertons offer?
The best way to describe this would be to quote their website;
“Allertons is unique, ‘Beauty & Grooming for Her, Him & Home‘. We offer Womens and Mens Hairdressing and Hair Styling, Beauty Treatments, Skincare, Makeup, Fragrance, and Home Fragrance all in one place.”
Sounds like heaven and so convenient having it all in one place.
I wasn’t too sure what to expect on the day, but the tweets from Allertons and other bloggers on the day got me very excited. On the agenda was; hair, makeup and nails.
My hair was in bad shape. So bad that one side was considerably longer than the other. This made me nervous about letting anyone near my hair but after I explained to the manager that I had suffered from hair loss due to ill health last year I was immediately put at ease. He was so kind and understanding, with Dean my hair stylist being even more so. I asked him what to expect if I was to cut my hair on a later visit, hoping it wouldn’t mean going too short. Dean gave me some options and we both decided taking my hair to just on top of my shoulders would be the best thing for me. With that settled, I was quite happy to commence with the wash & blow dry and make an appointment for the chop for a later date. Dean very kindly offered to cut my hair right then and I was very happy to accept. After finally finding a hair stylist who didn’t make me feel like crap about the poor condition of my hair, I wasn’t about to say no.
Dean washed my hair with some heavenly products (pictured below), but the product that really stood out for me on the day was the Shu Uemura hair mask. This smelled divine and left my hair in a condition that I can’t remember ever having before. We left it on for around 5 minutes and the results were amazing. My hair smelled so good and felt incredibly smooth.
After getting my hair sorted, I was whisked across to Joe from Paul & Joe for a chat about their products and a little makeover.
This was my first makeover experience with a professional and my first with Paul & Joe products. Having already spent time applying my makeup before the appointment and running behind after getting my hair cut, we settled on some eyeliner and a bold lip to take me from day to night. I explained to Joe that I always wanted to try a bold lip, but for some reason I could never get it to suit me. We talked about colours and I mentioned that my boyfriend would love to see me with a bold red lip and with it being date night, I would love to give it a go.
We settled on the lipstick shade 306; Avenue Montaigne and Glossy Lip Colour 09. I’m surprised by how much I love a darker lip on me and it has made me purchase a few darker shades.
I had a wonderful afternoon and got to learn more about Allertons and Paul & Joe. I received a lovely goody bag, including some Paul & Joe skin care, a cute makeup bag and some Shu Uemura & Caudalie samples.
I just wanted to say a special thank you to Joe and all the staff at Allertons for such a wonderful afternoon. I don’t think I have ever felt this comfortable when getting my hair done.
